About

Welcome to my blog. It will likely consist of a random hodgepodge of topics which I cannot imagine will appeal to any specific group of people, such as:

-health
-spirituality (woo-woo stuff, not religion)
-art
-personal growth
-overcoming obstacles
-dreams (both goals and actual, REM sleep dreams)
-whatever the hell else I might wish to write about

But also, as I begin these entries, it’s about Fluoroquinolone Toxicity and its aftermath. In 2008 I suffered a severe adverse reaction to Cipro, which gave me Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) along with other health ailments. It turns out that mainstream doctors, and many people in general, don’t believe these health conditions are real. Dealing with that is fun.

At some point I’ll post more detail about my health story. For now…although I am no longer suffering on a daily basis, I am not fully well, either. Life has become a constant balancing act, here in the murky limbo between sickness and wellness. And this blog is my attempt to live again…to chronicle the lessons, joys, sorrows, worries, and observations of life with these two largely unrecognized medical conditions constantly hovering over me like little black clouds. Because they’re always there, no matter how good or how terrible I may feel on any given day.

Anyway, life in health limbo can be quite lonely, with frequent thoughts and concerns not shared by the general masses. I figured dumping these thoughts into a blog, along with whatever random snippets I feel like posting, might help assuage that loneliness a little. At the very least, I’ll be practicing writing – my former, long-lost love…before my brain atrophied from disuse. Well, maybe it didn’t totally atrophy – but sometimes it feels like it did. And maybe if I practice writing enough, I’ll learn how to condense the wordy, run-on sentences that tend to be my norm these days.

Or…maybe not. We shall see.

    • Hi Carolyn,

I think the comments you’re referring to are here: https://dystopianflowergarden.com/2014/07/12/what-the-hell-is-a-dystopian-flower-garden/#comments. Not sure if the link will show up since I’m posting from my phone, but I’ll try to come back and fix it when I’m on a computer.

I meant to post a reply to your previous comment but got overwhelmed and busy. Sorry for the delay! Since my blog is so new and not fully set up, I doubt I’m getting many visitors here just yet. I was going to ask whether you’re on Facebook, because we have many different FQ groups there, including ones for Canadian FQ victims. Let me know if you are, and I can find some links for you. I intend to put more links to support groups in the link section of my blog, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. It’s a miracle that I’ve managed to post as much as I have, as overwhelmed as I get so often.

Anyway, sorry again for my delayed response!

      Take care,
      DFG
